Fresh herbs in cooking can make all the difference, and having your own fresh herbs in your garden or in a pot is great. You cannot beat the zing of fresh herbs in your meals.
Herbs do not need a huge garden for growing, you can grow some herbs in the smallest of pots in a kitchen.
How to start your herbs
You have two options really, growing from seed or buying pre-potted herbs.
Growing herbs from seed is the cheepest option and gives you the widest selection of herbs to choise from. This option can be a little tricky sometimes but it is worth trying. The seeds can be bought from garden centres DIY stores and supermarkets. April / May is the best time to plant the seeds, when the last frost has gone.
Growing from pre-potted this is the quickest easiest option. These are small plants that have been grown to a reasonable size for you to grow on. These are a bit more expensive, but the results are a lot faster.
Herbs are great for people new to gardening, the seeds are usually cheap and most of the are easy to grow.
